5 Reasons Not to Blog During the Holidays

The holiday season is upon us. We are right in the thick of it. And as much as I love this time of year, I find myself quoting this line from Christmas Vacation: “I don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.”

Ok it’s really not that bad… but I get it, and do laugh every time I say it.

Here are my top 5 reasons for slacking on my blog:

#5 – I am too busy actually baking for events to record them. Veritas.

#4 – We are studying and readying for Christmas concerts… Christmas Pageants… Christmas parties… and attending them. It’s chaos. It’s a lot of “What? You are supposed to have Christmas pajamas for your concert TOMORROW?”; “I don’t know, the shepherds probably wore sandals, but you are going to where your brown boots.”; “By the way we need to find a long sleeve brown shirt for Noah’s costume THIS AFTERNOON”; “Where are your socks?”; “I haven’t seen your coat. Where did you take it off?”; AAAAAAAHHH!

All four of my children made it into this closing scene; two shepherds, Mary and an inn keeper.

#3 – I am shopping for presents! Not even close to being done. And I waste time trying to think of… “who I can get this pineapple measuring set from Anthropologie for?”

#2 – All I want to do is be lazy. It’s the truth. I just want to crawl under a blanket and do nothing. Just leave me be.

#1 – My babies have been sick. Who has time for trips to Urgent Care and the ER? Not me. But somehow we manage to fit them in.

Virus induced asthma attacks are awful!

It’s all worthwhile.

  1. Me. You can get the Anthro Pineapple measuring set for your dear friend Jasmine. 😀 j/k

I’m sorry to hear the kids have been sick! Urgent care and ER sounds rather serious, so I hope they’re okay. I do have to admit that the chaos of the Christmas season in your house sounds really fun!

    1. Lol! Perfect! I love it (that you like my pineapple measuring set)! The kids are okay, urgent care was for after hour pink eye care. ? Noah had an asthmatic issue that was serious, but it’s under control now. The chaos is exhausting! (And a little fun ?). Thank you Jasmine 🙂

  2. Once when talking about “why all the fuss” for an upcoming school dance. A young teenage Sadie said to me “well, it is what you make it.” It’s so true! I think you make every thing special!!?

  3. Wow, Sadie! It sounds like our house! I’m so sorry your kiddos have been sick. 🙁 Praying they’re feeling better! We’ve had another round of coughs/colds come through our house, and poor Aviah’s turned into a nasty case of bronchitis. Thankfully, she’s starting to feel much better. 🙂
Add in cooking, baking, adopting a sweet little kitty, trying to keep the chickens/bunnies water from freezing, and getting stuck in the snow at our neighbor’s house, and well, I can totally relate to why your taking a Christmas break from blogging! 😉 Merry Christmas, sweet friend! p.s. the Anthropologie pineapple measuring set is awesome! 😉

    1. Sorry to hear about your seasonal woes! I’m so done with all of the colds in this house! ? Although I really want chickens, I am thankful I’m not worrying about them on top of it all. Thanks Anna ?

  4. Wow! You seem really busy! Congrats on all the kids making it to the end in the Christmas play and I remember those hospital visits for a nebulizer treatment. Don’t worry. We understand.

  5. So sorry to hear about your babies being sick and with Christmas just around the corner! Hope they feel better soon and I think you should take day to pamper yourself Sadie, you’ve earned it! BTW love that pineapple measuring set?❤️

    1. Thanks Marisa ? I think we’re out of the woods, down to runny noses and remnant coughs. (I’ll take it!) I’d love a pamper day ?. And it seems like my foodie blogging friends and I share the same taste in gifts! (We know what’s good, lol!)

  6. I cannot relate more!! This season has been so full of sicknes we haven’t even had time to finish putting our stockings up! Not to mention we missed the play and we missed all of your faces! ❤️ Hope everyone gets better ASAP, in Jesus name!

    1. Yes they are, and they are ? Thanks Terry! I’ve only been reading headlines, but I see you took a cruise! Good for you! Hope you are enjoying this holiday season!
