Loving Lately: Pizza (and all of it’s flavorful convenience)

Pizza has to be one of the greatest creations ever made. It’s inexpensive, can easily feed a lot of people, and is generally a crowd pleaser- because it is scrumptious! It’s bread, it’s cheese and it’s whatever else you want baked to perfection. I mean seriously. I think if my husband had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of his life, it would be pizza. And I sincerely believe that he feels pizza from a different place every night of the week is an entirely different daily meal. Oh, and inΒ many places you can have it delivered hot and cheesy right to your front door! In less than 30 minutes! Let’s not forget that little golden nugget. πŸ˜‰

Pizza is a great way to express your culinary creativity. Colors, flavors, textures… let ’em fly! Take this Nectarine Pizza with Basil, Blue Cheese and Reduced Balsamic from Alexandra’s Kitchen for example. Yeah, that’s right.

Or maybe a White Pizza with Garlic Sauce and Garden Herbs from How Sweet Eats… How much pizza is acceptable to eat at one sitting? Also by Jessica from How Sweet Eats are these mouth-watering 30-Minute Portobello PizzasΒ featured by The Pioneer Woman. I’m not going to lie, mushroom for crust just seems like a really good idea. I wonder how soy cheese would work for my vegan friends out there?

Apparently, the thing is basil. Everything will look beautiful as long as you have fresh basil.Β But I imagine Chicken Florentine Flatbread by Rachel Schultz tastes pretty good too. Little bursts of roasted cherry tomatoes… Yummmm!

And because this is the way I think, wouldn’t this be pretty for Christmas?

How about the fall? Are you ready to see everything that embodies autumn wrapped in a pizza package? Drum roll please….Β Caramelized Butternut, Crispy Kale + Fontina Pizza with Pomegranate SalsaΒ by Half Baked Harvest. Bravo! …Of course you could always go with the Cranberry Sauce, Bacon, and Gorgonzola Pastry Puff Pizza from Baker by Nature. Decisions, decisions.

Whether it’s buffalo chicken, taco, Hawaiian, regular pepperoni or pizza in a cone (that’s a real thing, thank you Pillsbury),Β “Za” is awesome. (That’s a real word too, thank you Scrabble).

  1. Yes pizza is all that: hot, cold or any where in between, all day every day, special events or quiet reflection. B,L,T, Hawaiian, Meat Lover’s or Pepperoni or whatever it’s a party.

  2. Sadie, I am with your husband on this one – a different pizza every night IS a different meal. LOL, hope you are feeling better – have a happy day my friend! πŸ™‚

    1. That’s so funny! Thanks Terry πŸ™‚ I’m doing okay. Probably going to have a procedure done in a couple weeks. Ugh, I was really wanting to avoid that. I’m behind (as usual) on my blog reading- but I pray for you often. I hope you’re feeling well and having safe travels! Have a happy day my friend.

  3. My husband refuses to eat cooked cheese unless it’s blue or mozzarella, and rejects basil entirely. Poor unfortunate soul …. It just means more pizza for me πŸ˜‰

      1. The odd thing is he lives cheese but not melted …. He might go for goat cooked and I know I love it …. Guide me to these pizzas!!!

      2. I’ve tried 2 at different restaurants and had 1 that was very good made by my sister. I’ll have to have her do it again so I can blog it! I’ve made a delicious whole wheat pita pizza with pizza sauce, feta and onion inspired by a recipe in Gwyneth Paltrow’s new cook book- if he can go for feta which doesn’t get melty. And here is a link from Ellie Krieger that sounds interesting (but I haven’t made) http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/arugula-caramelized-onion-and-goat-cheese-pizza-recipe.html. Bonne chance!

      3. I love the sound of Gwynnie’s pizza and that goat cheese baby is a honey …. I think he would go for both. I used to make lots of pizza when my girls were growing up but I’ve been reluctant since we married. Time for a new broom …. Thank you so much for the inspiration (and my babiest girl is coming out for her first ever visit to the US in a couple of weeks so the timing is rather impeccable …. She worships at the altar of good pizza!

  4. These all look so delicious … I really want to try those mini portobello pizzas, and those pizza cones are totes adorbs! πŸ˜‰ I smiled because I often play “za” on Scrabble or Words with Friends — getting that z on a triple letter or word iz zee best! πŸ˜‰

  5. What a wonderful and great line up of pizzas presented here Sadie. Food for thought for sure πŸ™‚ I would never have thought of adding fruit to it, but I can see how gorgeous that would be. Thanks for giving us some brilliant ideas on the art of pizza making πŸ™‚
