About

Welcome to The Nest!

I am a mother of four, which feels like 28, and actually is 5 when you count my husband… You know what I’m talking about. I was a stay-at-home mom for 16 years! I still homeschool two of my children.

I am a follower of Jesus; a home cook; an aspiring writer; an amateur photographer; a let’s see what comes next. I’m an admirer of the good in life and people. I’m a huge advocate for trying to fit organic food and practices into my lifestyle as much as possible. I often imagine living on a farm, with a flourishing vegetable garden, free range chickens, and a milking cow… Ahhh. I also daydream about owning a bustling café in a small town, or running a Bed & Breakfast on a dramatic lakeshore. What can I say? I like to dream. Je parle un peu français. I’m crazy about all things cheese and coffee. I can be wooed with a pastry… or dip…

I’m a perpetual student, with a zest for learning all things people, places, food, and culture… I also enjoy reading, jazz music, and family game nights. I grew up with large family gatherings where food and love were abundant. I enjoy sharing those traditions with my own brood and friends -old & new.

Foremost I love God, there is none higher.

I am constantly challenging myself to become a wiser mother, more creative writer, improved photographer, proficient cook, and kinder human being in general. I hope I can entertain you with my writing excerpts, kitchen endeavors, testaments of motherhood, and random ramblings. (And frequent revisions of my ‘About’ page.) My blog is a work in progress… I am in the midst of transition, dusting off the old keyboard.

(Disclaimer: I add commas and punctuation in general where I think they should go; and sometimes make up words, but this isn’t a blog on grammar.)

  4. Hello Sadie, it’s lovely to meet you. I’ve seen your comments so often on Lynn’s posts and see I should have taken a look at your blog before now. It feels very welcoming and your recipes look lovely. I’m looking forward to reading more! 🙂

  5. I found you over on Spearfruit’s blog and followed the gravy.. ?
Our family gravy is very similar to yours and I couldn’t agree more about organic foods..
In my opinion they taste better, minimal processing and easier to wash off natural pesticides and fertilizer.. Love the blog title ?
I don’t know how you find the time, but from what I’ve read so far, I’m glad you do !!!

  7. “One day,” I’m in high school cursing the entire English language as well as the puncuations and grammar that goes along with it, and the next thing I know and it’s many years later and I’m “looking up” punctuation and grammar for my blog and thinking it’s fascinating…..DAMN!!! Good luck with your blog, Zulu Delta
